- XIMEA honored by Vision Systems Design magazine Awards Program - 2018
MUNSTER, GERMANY, July 20, 2018 – XIMEA GmbH, the innovator of miniature and high speed cameras, was presented with an award in the “Cameras-visible” category at the Fourth Annual Vision Systems Design Innovators Awards presentation, held during The Vision Show in Boston, MA. Their 18 Mpix Subminiature USB3 camera was recognized by a panel of esteemed experts from system integrator and end-user companies.
Besides the extremely compact form factor of 15x15 mm and weight of just 5 grams, the newly added USB3 interface also allows to achieve impressive 21 Fps at the full resolution of 18 Megapixel. Switching from former USB 2.0 to USB 3.1 Gen1 additionally offers better stability, longer cable distance, more support and compatibility together with making it future proof.
In general, only a few industrial cameras can provide 5K resolution (4896 x 3680) and none of them is able to compete with this model's unbeatable size. In summary, this solution is unique in its mini footprint, advanced speed, low consumption, and overall simplicity of use in case of synchronization.
“With UAV/UAS (drones) and other mobile devices gaining more and more attention, the relevance of SWAP (Size, Weight and Power) parameters rises when approaching these new application fields,” says Klimkovic, CEO and head of product development and engineering at XIMEA. “With newly available, state of the art FPGA, micro connectors and other modern components it became possible to achieve higher resolution and speed at low enough heat dissipation.”
Alan Bergstein, publisher of Vision Systems Design (http://www.vision-systems.com) said "This prestigious program allows Vision Systems Design to celebrate and recognize the most innovative products and services in the vision and image processing industry. Our 2018 Honorees are an outstanding example of companies who are making an impact in the industry."
The Innovators Awards are judged based on the following criteria:
