XIMEA GmbH Showcasing USB 3.0 xiQ Cameras Extended 15 Meters over Copper with Icron Technologies' Spectra™ 3001-15 at SPS IPC Drives Show

Burnaby, British Columbia – November 18, 2013 – Icron Technologies Corporation, a leader in USB and video extension technology, and XIMEA GmbH, a leading international manufacturer of high-resolution cameras and imaging solutions, have partnered again to confirm joint product interoperability between XIMEA’s xiQ USB 3.0 camera series and Icron’s USB 3.0 Spectra™ 3001-15, the world’s most reliable USB 3.0 active extension cable.

Icron’s Spectra 3001-15 USB 3.0 bus powered copper cable meets the demands of the machine vision market by providing an affordable and reliable extension solution for USB 3.0 cameras and other devices at 15 meters. The active cable provides a full 5V, 900mA of current, features a locking connector and an LED indicator at the device connection point. The Spectra 3001-15 comes with Icron’s ExtremeUSB® suite of technology, including plug-and-play functionality (no software drivers) and compatibility with all major operating systems, including Windows 8.

“USB 3.0, while a relatively new interface in vision camera technology, is rapidly gaining popularity among installers and end-users,” said Klimkovic, CEO and Head of Product Development at XIMEA GmbH. “At this early stage of adoption, we want to provide a complete and reliable imaging solution that allows our customers to overcome USB 3.0’s distance limitation and take advantage of its tremendous benefits. Icron Technologies’ 15-meter active cable is affordable, reliable, and easy-to-use; this is why we recommend the Spectra 3001-15 as part of a complete USB 3.0 vision solution.”

“XIMEA was one of the first camera manufacturers to join Icron’s ExtremeUSB Vision Interoperability program,” said Glenn Antonelli, VP of Marketing at Icron Technologies. “The performance of XIMEA’s cameras reflects their extensive expertise in imaging applications and we are pleased to announce interoperability of our Spectra 3001-15 extension cable with their USB 3.0 xiQ camera series. XIMEA customers now have a solution for short range extension with our Spectra 3001-15 cable, as well as longer range extension with Icron’s 100-meter fiber based extender, the Spectra 3022.”

Icron’s Spectra 3001-15 active cable and 100-meter Spectra 3022 fiber based extender will be on display at the XIMEA booth (Booth# 7A-350) during the SPS IPC Drives Show in Nuremberg, Germany from November 26th to November 28th.
