MUNSTER, GERMANY, April 7, 2015 – XIMEA GmbH, developer of high grade machine vision and scientific cameras for special applications announced today that its Smallest Hyperspectral Cameras based on USB3 Vision was recognized among the best in the industry by the judges of the Vision Systems Design 2015 Innovators Awards program. The judging panel consisted of esteemed experts from system integrator and end-user companies.

XIMEA GMBH was awarded a Bronzelevel award.

“On behalf of the Vision Systems Design Innovator Awards, I would like to congratulate XIMEA GMBH on their Bronze award,” said Vision Systems Design Group Publisher Alan Bergstein. “This competitive, unbiased program celebrates the most innovative products and services in the vision and image processing industry. The team at XIMEA GMBH should be very proud.”

XIMEA coupled imec’s hyperspectral sensors with its USB 3.0 camera product line called xiQ, which features exceptional form factor with unmet specification to date for the hyperspectral imaging space: xiQ cameras offer miniature 26.4 x 26.4 x 21.6 mm total dimension and weight of mere 27 grams. These numbers make xiQ cameras officially the world’s smallest industrial USB3 Vision and hyperspectral imaging camera. This ultra-compact footprint is achieved by using a single planar rigid board construction as opposed to competing multi-board and multifold flexi-rigid PCB construction, making the xiQ easier to integrate into specialized equipment and OEM designs. xiQ cameras consume only 1.8 W, easing the power and thermal management design challenges of UAVs for example and support Windows, Linux, Mac OSX and ARM platforms.
